Terms of Service

1. Who provides the service

FontServer (the "Service") is operated by FontServer ("we", "us"). You can reach us at info@fontserver.ir.

2. What the Service does

We host typefaces and deliver them as webfonts. That means three things you may use, without an account and without a key:

• the public catalogue and its API, for browsing and searching the library;
• the stylesheet endpoints, which generate @font-face CSS or its JSON equivalent for a family you name; and
• the font files those stylesheets reference.

You may link to these endpoints from your own pages, in production, at no charge, for commercial and non-commercial projects alike.

3. Font licensing — read this one

We do not license the typefaces to you. Each typeface carries its own licence from its own rights holder, and that licence governs what you may do with it. Our permission to serve a font to your visitors is not permission to do anything else with it.

Most families here are published under the SIL Open Font License, which permits use, study, modification and redistribution, with conditions — including that the font may not be sold on its own and that a derivative may not use a reserved font name. Some families may be under different terms. The licence that applies to a given family is named on its page.

Before doing anything beyond embedding a font on a web page — bundling it into an application, installing it on a desktop, modifying it, redistributing it — read that licence. If you are unsure, ask the rights holder, not us.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• generate load designed to degrade the Service for others, or automated traffic substantially beyond what serving your own sites requires;
• circumvent rate limits, or distribute requests across addresses to the same effect;
• re-host or mirror the font files as your own service while presenting them as such — self-hosting the software is expressly encouraged, but see section 3 for the fonts themselves;
• attempt to gain access to the administrative interface or any account;
• use the Service to distribute malware, or to infringe anyone's rights.

We apply per-node rate limiting. Exceeding it returns a 429 with a Retry-After header rather than a silent block; respect it and requests resume normally.

5. Reviews and other things you post

You may post reviews of the families in the library. When you do:

• you confirm the review is your own honest opinion, based on actual experience of the typeface;
• you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to publish, display and distribute it as part of the Service, including in search-engine previews;
• you agree not to post anything unlawful, defamatory, abusive, or misleading, and not to post promotional content, or reviews written for payment, or reviews of your own work presented as someone else's.

Reviews are read by a moderator before they appear. We may decline to publish, or later remove, a review that breaches this section — and we may do so without notice, because the alternative is leaving it up while we correspond about it. You can ask us to remove a review you wrote: see the Privacy Policy.

6. Availability, and what we do not promise

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

We have built the Service to degrade rather than fail: the edge nodes serve their full catalogue from local storage with no network dependency, and the stylesheet API keeps serving from its last snapshot when the control plane is unavailable. That is a design property, not a service-level guarantee. We do not commit to an uptime figure, we may change or withdraw endpoints, and we may withdraw a family from publication — most often because a rights holder asked us to.

If your project cannot tolerate that, self-host. The software is designed for it and nothing about the architecture depends on us.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, for lost profits, or for loss of data, arising out of your use of or inability to use the Service — including where a font fails to load, where a family is withdrawn, or where a URL changes.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

8. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your use of the Service in breach of these terms, from content you post, or from your use of a typeface outside the terms of its own licence.

9. Changes

We may revise these terms. The date at the top of this page changes when we do, and a substantive change will be announced on the site before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that is acceptance of the revised terms.

10. Termination

There is no account to terminate. We may block traffic that breaches section 4, and may remove content that breaches section 5. You may stop using the Service at any time by removing the embed code from your pages.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the operator’s country of establishment, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Consumers keep the protections of the mandatory law of their own country of residence.
